A routine trim and a substantial reduction are different jobs. Trimming usually deals with recent growth to maintain an existing shape. A reduction changes the size more noticeably and needs a closer assessment of plant response, timing and the appearance that will remain afterwards.
We agree which faces and sections are included before work begins. If only one side is accessible, or neighbouring permission is needed for access, this must be resolved as part of the plan. We do not assume that every visible boundary belongs to the person making the enquiry.
Overgrown hedges need an individual assessment
If a hedge has become too large, the first question is whether the desired reduction is appropriate for that particular plant. Some species can recover from substantial pruning; many conifers do not regrow from old, bare wood. Removing too much can therefore leave a gap that will not simply fill in.

Can you cut an overgrown hedge back hard?
Sometimes, but it is not suitable for every species or condition. We assess what can be removed and explain any risk of permanent bare areas. A staged reduction or replacement may be more appropriate.
Can hedge work take place during the nesting season?
Work must not damage or destroy a nest in use or being built, and additional protections can apply. We check for nesting activity and postpone affected work. The actual presence of birds matters throughout the year.
Will you remove the clippings?
Removal can be arranged. The amount of waste and any disposal charge are discussed before the work is agreed, so the quotation is clear about what happens to the clippings.
